Matician is a tight-knit and collaborative team, singularly focused on building products our customers will cherish. We’re ultra-hardworking people committed to solving tough problems thoroughly and quickly.
At Matician we are eager to take risks and test convention. We love diving headfirst into hard problems — even if it means some failures along the way. We work smart, hard, and long (and in that order), chasing innovation and human impact. We highly value individual ownership and take meticulous pride in the work we do, knowing our efforts affect both one another and our customers.
Individuals who value curiosity and learning and who don’t shy away from hard problems thrive at Matician. If you, like us, are genuinely committed to innovation and improving the lives of others, we’d love to hear from you.
All roles are fully onsite in our Mountain View office. We are not currently hiring interns, but will update this page with future internship openings.
Matic uses a sophisticated perception stack to process observations of its environment. It builds a 3D map of the home, localizes itself, and extracts semantic understanding. Our Autonomy team develops the vision and audio-based perception stack to build these representations for use in robot autonomy. Specific areas of development include 3D reconstruction, SLAM, learning-based semantics, and speech analysis.
If the algorithms are the brain, the platform is the nervous system. There's plenty of work to be done on tuning our drivers for maximum performance and power efficiency, implementing an infallible software update system, writing various system services, optimizing compute graphs, and generally bridging the gap between our perception stack and robot behavior to make everything reliable and seamless.
Our Mechanical Engineering team is responsible for the design, testing, and manufacturing of various mechanical sub-systems within the robot. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to: plastic part design; design of mechanisms; noise and vibration control; and computational fluid dynamics. You will also collaborate closely with the industrial design, electrical engineering and software teams to develop tightly integrated systems optimized for frequent customer use in homes.
The Electrical Engineering team is responsible for the architecture, design, manufacturing, and verification of custom electrical systems within the robot and our automation and reliability setups. Specific areas of development include System on a Chip integration, motor drives, high-speed interconnects, and battery pack and camera module design.
From making sure our internal teams have the resources they need, to partnering with external vendors and suppliers in order to drive our build timelines from end-to-end, our Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams are churning beneath the surface to keep major projects and initiatives on track. Roles within Supply Chain and Manufacturing are steeped in cross-functional engagement, external-facing representation, and sharp attention to detail.
Members of Operations and Talent build the team and infrastructure behind the robots! Spanning from recruitment to culture building to business operations, you would be instrumental in growing our tight-knit team and fostering a collaborative work environment conducive to continued growth and perpetual learning.
